The name EarthMoves carries deep symbolism and reflects the core mission of the organization. It refers to movement, physical, mental, social, ecological, and collective, that is necessary to create a healthier, regenerative and more reciprocal relationship between humans and the planet.
First and foremost, “Moves” emphasizes the need to take action. It is a call to movement, inspired by the Latin word movere, which means "to move" or "to take action." EarthMoves stands for actively contributing to a world where human and planetary health are inextricably linked. Every step we take toward a more balanced relationship with nature, no matter how small, contributes to a greater whole.
Additionally, the name also signifies that the Earth itself moves and continuously evolves. The Earth is not a static entity but a dynamic and living system. This ongoing interplay of motion, change, and transformation is at the heart of our connection to the planet. We are moved by nature—touched, inspired, and challenged—and at the same time, our actions influence the Earth.
Thus, EarthMoves symbolizes a reciprocal relationship: the Earth moves and affects us, and in return, we can take action to care for her and live in harmony with her.
This awareness forms the foundation of EarthMoves vzw’s projects and initiatives, where ecopsychology, sustainability, and well-being come together in a dynamic, regenerative reciprocal relationship between humans and nature.
By becoming part of this movement, we not only contribute to a more sustainable world and planet but also enrich our own lives with a deeper sense of connection, belonging, and well-being.
